Circula-TEX

The project Circula-TEX It is a European initiative that supports the textile sector in its transition to a truly circular model. Its main objective is to support the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, guiding the sustainable and harmonized implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes across Europe.

Funded by the program Horizon EuropeThe project brings together 19 organizations from several European countries to redesign textile value chains with a circular economy approach and more efficient management of textile waste.

In Circula-TEX, Texfor supports the joint creation of requirement definitions and the development of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes and recommendationsAs a multiplier, Texfor will leverage its extensive network of partner companies to disseminate the project's results and reinforce its impact on the textile industry.

Circula-TEX is developed through several lines of work:

  • Boost ecodesign and the traceability of textile products from their conception.

  • Improving separate collection, sorting and recycling of post-consumer and post-industrial textile waste.

  • Develop a system of smart tagging, aligned with the future Digital Product Passport, which will allow garments to be tracked throughout their entire life cycle.

  • Analyze different EPR models and test them new business models for extended producer responsibility organizations.

The project will also conduct case studies in different segments of the textile market and offer training activities so that companies, administrations and other agents can apply the results in real contexts.

With all this, Circula-TEX aims to provide practical recommendations and evidence-based criteria for implementing more coherent and effective textile EPR schemes in Member States, promoting reuse, high-quality recycling, and reducing the sector's environmental impact. Texfor participates as a partner in the consortium, representing the Spanish textile industry in this shared effort toward a more circular and sustainable future.
