Industry 4.0 and digitalization represent a challenge and an opportunity for all textile companies but especially for SMEs.

Industry 4.0 and digitalization represent a challenge and an opportunity for all textile companies but especially for SMEs. The DigiTVC initiative, led by Texfor, aims to promote digitalization in the textile sector. It is a transnational project that has the participation of organizations from Portugal, Spain and France, with a reach of more than 5.000 textile companies in the SUDOE (southwest European) space.

The DigiTVC project provides greater added value to the product, while directly impacting the value chain, increasing the transparency and communication of the work flows of all the actors involved.

DigiTVC will provide tools to the textile industry, through the development of a specific protocol to promote technological transformation, product customization, traceability, connectivity and effectiveness of the processes/services of companies in the textile sector. To carry out this challenge, 3 main lines of action are addressed:

  • Diagnosis of the critical digitalization needs of the textile value chain with a specific focus on: fashion, home textiles and technical textiles.
  • Three digital pilot projects will be implemented in selected SMEs. The pilots will identify needs and processes to help develop viable 4.0 solutions of interest to the textile sector.
  • The results obtained will be systematized to create a protocol that allows companies to design their digitalization strategy using the most appropriate technologies.

The project, based on the new specific protocol for the textile industry, will accredit experts so that they can accompany companies individually to create their digitalization strategy.
