The objective of Eco-Tex is the design and implementation of an innovative and comprehensive collection. The platform focused on online training and facilitated the dissemination of knowledge and the exchange of experience.
Sustainability in the textile industry is of increasing importance. The Eco-Tex program arises from the need to train a new professional profile to cover the new needs of the textile sector with respect to the circular economy and sustainability.
EU textile industries need flexible staff to continue training in expanding “green textiles”. This is as a result of a change in the consumer regarding their awareness of the materials and practices when creating the product, resulting in an opportunity for the textile sector and its growth.
The objective of Eco-Tex is the design and implementation of an innovative and comprehensive collection. The platform focused on online training and facilitated the dissemination of knowledge and the exchange of experience. In addition to a tool where concerns and advice can be shared about the circular economy and sustainability in the textile sector. Another of its objectives is to provide SMEs with a high-quality ICT tool and define a professional profile of “sustainability expert.”
The project started in December 2017 and ended in June 2020. The Romania and Latvia University, the Portuguese Technology Center CITEVE and SEPEE (Greece) participated as entities.
The results were several, a study on professional skills was developed on a technical profile in sustainability in the textile and clothing sector and a digital capture platform was developed for this. High-quality training opportunities tailored to the needs of the textile industry were improved and expanded. Furthermore, the project contributes to the modernization and professionalization, especially of SMEs. And finally we train more than 4000 people from all over the planet in sustainability.
