The team responsible for the project SmartX, has decided to bring together all the work done in a catalog that shows the 25 projects promoted during the 3 years of activity (2019 – 2022).
Funded through the EU project, Horizon 2020, SmartX aims to promote innovation to develop a smart textile manufacturing value chain in Europe and help push promising prototypes more quickly to market and at reasonable prices.
The project promotes new industrial value chains composed of textile manufacturers, micro/nanoelectronics, integrators, IoT data processing specialists (Internet of Things), technology providers, distributors and end users.
SmartX drives innovation in product development close to commercial launch in 3 sectors: Protection, Sports, Health and Wellbeing.
Texfor – Confederation of the Textile Industry has played a fundamental role in SmartX, coordinating the project in Spain. Of the 25 ideas chosen, 6 belong to Spanish companies. The Innovation Area of Texfor has acted as a mentor to these companies with more than 200 hours of coaching services, 60.000 euros of financial aid and providing access to the network of experts, collaboration platforms, workshops, organizing coachinars, etc.

SmartX ended its activity in the summer of 2022. In addition to promoting 25 projects on smart textiles, it has created the European Smart Textiles Innovation Community promoted by the European Textile Platform – FTP, of which Texfor is also a part.
The new Community has been born thanks to the excellent results and the impact generated by Smartx. It brings together more than a thousand textile industry innovation experts and technology developers from all over Europe. Through this digital platform, services such as e-learning, in-person and virtual networking, as well as advisory and coaching activities are offered.
