Our origins and history
Texfor was founded in 2010 with the aim of integrating the leading textile industry employers' associations (Aitpa (Industrial Textile Association for Cotton Processing), FTS (Textile Silk Federation), the Gremi de Fabricants de Sabadell and the National Federation of Textile Finishers, Printers and Dyers) into a single organisation, providing greater strength, cohesion and visibility to the sector.
The Cotton Process Textile Industrial Association – AITPA, represents the cotton textile industry and its mixtures throughout the Spanish State. Its companies produce all types of yarns, fabrics, and semi-finished products for home textiles. Its majority markets are the knitting and clothing industries (yarns and fabrics), small and large distribution (home linen) and other industries, such as automotive, aeronautics, construction, etc. (technical textiles).
The current AITPA It is heir to the Foreign Trade Service of the Cotton Textile Industry (SECEA), an entity created in 1954 and which included the spirit of the previous organizations that existed to defend the collective interests of the sector. After the changes and transformations experienced by Spanish society and industry in the transition stage, AITPA It was established as such a business association on July 6, 1977. Its headquarters are located in Barcelona, in the so-called Casa del Algodón, which is located in a beautiful building on Gran Vía.
The Sabadell Manufacturers Guild is a business association that brings together textile companies and other complementary sectors.
Its main objective is to defend the interests of the industry in the area and in particular the textile industry. At the same time, it carries out important promotional work and helps companies through high-value services.
The Sabadell Manufacturers Guild collaborates with other institutions and social agents for growth, the creation of wealth and the improvement of the economic, cultural and social quality of life.
Through the Federation of the Wool Textile Industry (Fitexlan), it leads state-level corporate tasks in the wool sector and participates directly in the activities of the employer organization Spanish Intertextile Council. Through Texfor – Confederation of the Textile Industry, it provides specialized services to advisory, promotion and information companies, and representation in the fields of administration, institutional, communication and others.
The National Federation of Textile Finishers, Printers and Dyers (FNAETT), was established on June 29, 1978 for the representation, management and defense of the broad business problems of its members, as well as for everything that refers to the development and promotion of their professional activity.
The following entities belong as members of the FNAETT: Association of Auxiliary Textile Industries of Barcelona, Association of Knitwear Entrepreneurs of Mataró (ASEGEMA), Association of Textile Entrepreneurs of the Valencian Community (ATEVAL), Gremi de Fabricants de Sabadell and Industrial Institute of Terrassa.
The Sedera Textile Federation (FTS) It is the business association of employers and state level that brings together companies conceptualized as manufacturers and marketers of textile products of the silk process; which are the spinning and weaving activities of natural silk, synthetic and artificial fibers and their mixtures with other natural fibers.
In addition to these companies, the Federation integrates the Gremio de Cinteros, whose companies manufacture and market narrow fabrics up to 30 cm wide, as well as accessories and trimmings for clothing, and the National Association of Manufacturers of Tules, Embroidery and Lace. The products of silk companies are aimed at multiple uses of clothing, home textiles and technical textiles.
Today TEXFOR is also a Cluster recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Industry grouping the industrial textile ecosystem.
