Project summary
The project TEX-MED Alliances, Mediterranean Textile Alliances for Development, Internationalization and Business Innovation, is funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Program 2014/2020.
The textile and clothing scene has changed profoundly in recent years. The new challenges come from advanced countries for high added value productions. Technical textiles, digitalization, Industry 4.0 are creating a gap in the innovation of the textile and clothing industry of the Mediterranean Sea basin, while the focus on sustainability and circular economy becomes a necessity to be competitive with a more rational and sustainable use of resources.
TEX-MED ALLIANCES focuses on the textile and clothing sector of 7 Mediterranean countries. Promotes the development of the textile and clothing business by supporting cross-border cooperation initiatives in 3 fields: internationalization, innovation and circular economy.
Specific objectives
- Design and implement cross-border cooperation initiatives identified and promoted by project partners, which aim to encourage the participation of Microenterprises, SMEs and other organizations in the sector in strategic aspects related to internationalization, innovation and the circular economy.
- Select and support new ideas and proposals for cross-border cooperation projects that arise directly from Microenterprises, SMEs and other organizations in the sector in areas of interest related to internationalization, innovation and the circular economy that end in Euro-Mediterranean alliances and partnerships. or cross-border business agreements.
Expected results
Increase the number of microenterprises and SMEs participating in Euro-Mediterranean business alliances with the following results:
- 31 Support initiatives for internationalization, innovation and technological improvement and the circular economy in the textile/clothing industry

- 34 SMEs and microenterprises participating in key business events and internationalization/innovation fairs
- 1 Open forum on circular economy to share best practices in the textile/clothing industry
- 4 business to business events with 123 participating companies
- 22 SMEs and microenterprises participating in new alliances and Euro-Mediterranean business associations
